The Black Peak expedition is an exhilarating adventure of a lifetime that takes you to the majestic Himalayas of the Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. Black Peak is the highest summit which stands tall at 6387 meters in the Saraswati (Bandarpunch) Himalayan range.

Drive Distance: 200 kilometres
Maximum altitude: Sankri (1950 meters)
Accommodation: Overnight stay in a guesthouse
We commence our day with an early morning drive from Dehradun to Sankri, the starting point of our Black Peak expedition. Arriving in Sankri, we find comfort and rest in a welcoming guesthouse, preparing ourselves for the thrilling adventures that await us in the days ahead.
Trekking Distance: 12 kilometres
Maximum altitude: Seema (2600 meters)
Accommodation: Overnight stay in camping tents
The day starts with a drive from Sankri to Taluka which is around 12kms. From here we start our trek to Seema. Seema and the opposite village of Osla are enchanting hamlets rich in culture and tradition. We traverse through deodar forests, and the gurgling Supin river. The day ends in Seema with an overnight stay in tents.

We start the trek from Seema to Rainbasera, where the landscape transitions between forests, meadows, and boulder paths. The grandeur of the Black Peak gradually reveals itself, captivating our senses. Following the river along the way, we arrive at Rainbasera, our campsite for the night.

Maximum altitude: Advance base camp (4500 meters)

On the 7th day of our expedition, we begin a moderate ascent, through challenging terrain across the moraines. With each step, we inch closer to the Advance base camp which lies next to the Bandarpoonch Glacier, this base camp is also a crucial frontier of the Black Peak. We pitch our tents, immersing ourselves in the sublime surroundings, as the mighty Black Peak inspires us to push our limits in pursuit of our aspirations.

Maximum altitude: Camp 1 (5050 meters)

We continue our expedition from the Advance base camp, traversing a difficult ascent through the moraine and glacier. Empowered by this newfound confidence, we press on towards our ultimate goal. The day concludes as we reach our designated spot to set up camp, allowing us to rest and recharge. Here, we reflect on our remarkable progress and gather our strength for the this incredible adventure towards the Black Peak.

As we make our way to the Summit camp we can witness the Swargarohini to the North and Bandarpooch to the South. The moderate ascent is adorned with both hidden and open crevasses. This mesmerizing landscape predominantly features vast glaciers, where each step requires caution and adaptability. With mindfulness and resiliency, we move ahead to the Summit camp.

On this momentous day, we embark on the ultimate challenge—the summit push of the Black Peak. Past midnight, we commence our ascent, fully aware of the the biting cold and the relentless winds at high altitude. With safety as our top priority, we navigate the technical climb. With a target of reaching the summit within 7-8 hours, we remain focused and determined. Scaling vertical ice walls with gradients of 70-75 degrees and heights reaching 75-85 feet, we rely on fixed ropes and jumars to secure our progress, steadily inching closer to the ridge-line.
The summit stands majestically at an elevation of 6387 meters, from here we descend to the safety of our campsite. Descending demands even greater caution, as we navigate the treacherous terrain that can prove more unforgiving than the ascent itself. We cherish the achievement, and the profound respect we hold for the Black Peak.

We begin our descent from the Summit camp back to Base camp, carefully navigating the challenging terrain and prioritizing safety. With a sense of accomplishment and gratitude, we reflect on the remarkable experience of our summit attempt.

Maximum altitude: Runisara Tal (3600 meters)
Accommodation: Overnight stay in camping tents
We retrace our path, slowly making our way back to the familiar meadow of the Runisara Tal. As the day draws to a close, we find solace in the comforting base camp, pitching our tents for an overnight stay.
Trekking Distance: 17 kilometres
Maximum altitude: Seema (2600meters)
Accommodation: Overnight stay in camping tents
Descending from Runisara Tal, we begin our trek towards Seema.
With each step, we bid farewell to the high-altitude and the lush forests.
Trekking Distance: 5 kilometres
Maximum altitude: Sankri (1950 meters)
Accommodation: Overnight stay in a guesthouse
We descend from Seema to Taluka, as we bid farewell to the mountains that have sheltered us on our journey. Upon reaching Taluka, we conclude the trek and drive back to Sankri, where our expedition comes to a close.
Trekking Distance: 200 kilometres
As we drive back to Dehradun from Sankri a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment lingers in the air, reminding us of the remarkable journey we have undertaken. With gratitude we cherish the successful completion of the Black Peak expedition.
These additional days serves as a contingency plan, allowing us flexibility in case of unforeseen circumstances such as adverse weather conditions or the need for additional acclimatization. These days allow us to adjust our plans accordingly and ensure the safety and well-being of the team.
It is important to note that the itinerary cost does not include the contingency days.
